Chief Medical Officer
Joseph E. Bisordi, M.D., FACP, is Chief Medical Officer at Ochsner Health System. He is responsible for overseeing of all aspects of physician performance within Ochsner’s seven hospitals, 33 health centers and 640-physician group practice.
Most recently he served as Associate Chief Medical Officer of the Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania and Chief Medical Officer of Geisinger Medical Center. Prior to assuming that position, Dr. Bisordi was Senior Vice President for Medical Informatics leader at Geisinger. In this role, he provided clinical leadership for information services including responsibility for implementation of enterprise-wide scheduling, electronic health records, computerized provider order entry, clinical decision support, image management, web-based patient access to medical record information, and other electronic clinical systems.
Dr. Bisordi is a graduate of Manhattan College and Georgetown University School of Medicine. A board certified nephrologist, he has practiced at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania since 1980. He is former director of the department of nephrology and served as vice president for clinical research. He also spent many years in regional quality improvement and peer review efforts in dialysis and transplantation.
