Senior Vice President of Patient Care and System Chief Nursing Officer

As Senior Vice President of Patient Care and System Chief Nursing Officer at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA, Nancy Davis provides strategic direction, leadership and operational support for inpatient and ambulatory nursing across Ochsner's seven hospitals, main campus clinics and 30 satellite clinic sites. Additionally, she has responsibility for patient safety, case management, performance improvement and accreditation services for the system.

Davis joined Ochsner in 1987. Prior to this, she held clinical and administrative positions in Kansas City, Dallas and New Orleans. Davis was appointed to the Chief Nursing Officer position in 1994. After receiving a BSN from University of Kansas School of Nursing, she received an MA in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Davis also earned a Masters in Nursing from LSU School of Nursing in 1982. She holds certification in nursing administration.

Davis has a special interest in nursing informatics, service excellence, disaster management, organizational dynamics, leadership development and performance improvement. She is a Wharton Fellow of the University of Pennsylvania. Davis is a member of and has held board positions on several local and state-wide organizations including: American Organization of Nurse Executives, American College of Healthcare Executives, American Nurses Association, Women's Healthcare Executive Network and Sigma Theta Tau. She is a past president and current board member of the Louisiana Organization of Nurse Executives. Davis led her organization to Magnet Hospital designation in 2003 and re-designation in 2008.

In 2004, she was named the Louisiana State Nursing Association's Nursing Administrator of the year. Davis played a pivotal role in Ochsner's successful continuous operation and recovery during and after Hurricane Katrina which devastated the New Orleans region in the summer of 2005. She was named one of New Orleans City Business' Top 50 Women of 2007. Davis is married and has three children. She enjoys international travel, jazz, gardening, exercise and fitness activities, politics, reading and needlepoint.
