Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Quinlan is responsible for all operations and the strategic growth and development of the Health System. Dr. Quinlan joined the Foundation in 1998 as Chief Medical Officer and in 2001, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ochsner Health System. Before joining the Foundation, Dr. Quinlan served as Chief Medical Officer of Lovelace Health Systems in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Quinlan completed his dermatology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is Board Certified in Dermatology. He earned a Masters degree in Health Administration from the College of St. Francis in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In May 2007, Dr. Quinlan was named the #1 most powerful physician executive in the nation by Modern Physician magazine. In 2008, he was selected as on of the "100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare" by Modern Healthcare magazine. Quinlan was also voted a Healthcare Hero in May 2007 by New Orleans CityBusiness Magazine. Ochsner’s Leadership Team also received the National Top Leadership award in 2006 from HealthLeaders Magazine.

Ochsner is a eight-hospital, non-profit, academic, multi-specialty, healthcare delivery system dedicated to patient care, research and education. The system also includes a sub-acute facility, and over 38 health centers located throughout Southeast Louisiana. Ochsner employs over 850 physicians in over 90 medical specialties and subspecialties and conducts over 300 ongoing clinical research trials annually. The hospital has been named a top 100 hospital by Thomson Reuters as well as a top 15 academic medical center. 

Additionally, Ochsner operates one of the country’s largest, independently accredited graduate medical education programs, offering training to over 200 interns, residents and fellows in 17 independently Ochsner-sponsored programs. Ochsner jointly sponsors 4 programs with LSU and Tulane offering training to an additional 100 residents. Also, approximately 500 unique medical students complete over 700 student months of training at Ochsner for core 3rd and 4th year elective training.
