Ochsner Medical Center achieved the Magnet Recognition for Excellence in Nursing Services from the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) in September 2003, and are we are excited to announce that we were re-designated in 2008!
Only four percent of the hospitals in the nation hold the Magnet designation. This designation confirms that Ochsner is one of the best hospitals for nurses to practice their profession. ANCC lists 14 "Forces of Magnetism" as essential elements or building blocks of excellence in nursing and in the provision of high-quality care. These "forces of magnetism" are the standards that Ochsner strives to maintain.
The recognition is unarguably the gold standard in patient care. It provides our patients with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care they can expect to receive. On the horizon, Ochsner's other family members are well on their way to achieving their own Magnet certification, including Ochsner Baptist Medical Center, Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner, Ochsner Medical Center - West Bank, Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital, Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge, and Ochsner Hospital - Elmwood.
