Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital

  • Specialize in care of perinatal patients, vaginal deliveries and C-Sections

NURSERY UNIT

  • Level I nursery
  • How many beds/cribs
  • Specialize in care of the normal newborn and stabilization of sick neonates for immediate transfer

  • 10 antepartum rooms
  • Specialize in care of high-risk antepartum patients, vaginal deliveries and C-Sections

  • Female patients only, inpatient postpartum with transitional nursery
  • All private rooms, 20 newborn cribs
  • Specialize in couplet care (care of the new mother and baby together)

NICU

  • Inpatient critical care for newborns
  • 40 bed unit utilizing pod system
  • Specialize in care of patients with prematury, ECMO, and congenital defects
  • 12 hour shifts with every other weekend off (less as seniority grows)
  • Flow sheet documentation

PEDIATRIC ACUTE 

Director: Pat Simonson, RNC

  • Inpatient care unit for ages newborn to18 years
  • 27 private rooms brightly decorated in a home like setting
  • Specialize in care of patients with all varieties of medical and surgical pediatric patients
  • 12 hour shifts with every other weekend off
  • Electronic documentation
  • ALOS – 3 days

PICU

Director: Steve Rhodes, RN

  • Inpatient critical care for pediatrics
  • 14 private rooms designed as a ship sailing on the ocean
  • Specialize in care of pediatric patients with neurosurgical procedures, cardiovascular procedures, orthopedic procedures, trauma, infectious diseases, GI, and pulmonology
  • Unit also does minor pediatric procedures requiring sedation
  • 12 hour shifts
  • Flow sheet documentation with some electronic components
  • ALOS – 4 days
