Medical Surgical Unit

  • Adult inpatient care unit
  • 28 beds total - 22 inpatient beds, and 6 ambulatory surgery beds
  • Specialize in telemetry, post-partal, pediatric, orthopedic surgery, and medical patients
  • Two-and-three schedule to provide a three day weekend – every other weekend

  • Specialize in Chest pain, post MI, Post op CABG, Post maker insertion, angiograms, angioplasty, HTN, dialysis, Electrolyte Imbalance, hyper/hypoglycemia, any patient population with cardiac history

Cardiology Intermediate Care Unit

 Director: Richelle Hammond-Soniat, RN, MSN

  • Adult inpatient care unit
  • Part of Ochsner’s Heart and Vascular Institute
  • 25 private rooms, 3 nurses’ stations
  • Specialize in care of patients with Unstable Angina, Coronary Artery Disease, Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack), Congestive Heart Failure/Cardiomyopathy, Dysrhythmias, Syncope, and Valvular Heart Disease
  • 12 hour shifts; 5 to 1 patient ratio

Internal Medicine/Telemetry Unit

  • Part of Ochsner’s Joint Commission Certified Stroke Program
  • 34 private rooms
  • Specialize in care of patients with Stroke, Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, mental status changes, hypertension, hyperglycemia, pneumonia, and abdominal pain
  • Various shifts available with every other weekend off; 5:1 patient ratio

Medical Surgical Unit

  • Bariatric Center of Excellence
  • Specialize in urology, nephrology, telemetry, and bariatric surgery

Oncology Unit

Director: Morris Gilligan, MSN, OCN

  • Adult inpatient care unit
  • 44 beds
  • Specialize in medical oncological patients including solid tumors and blood disorders, chemo induced side effects, GYN Oncology medical and surgical patients, and hysterectomies (abdominal, laparoscopic, and robotic)
  • 8 to 12 hour shifts

Post-Op Surgical Services 

Director: David Brennan, MSN, RN

  • Adult inpatient care unit
  • 45 beds
  • Specialize in post- surgical care of orthopedics, neurosurgery, colon and rectal surgery, PCA and PCEA pain control pumps
  • 12 hour shifts with every other weekend off

Short Stay Unit

Director: Naomi Ruegge, BSN, RNC

  • Outpatient and inpatient care unit
  • 18 private rooms
  • Specialize in short stay patients from the Emergency Unit and Surgery, patients needing blood transfusions, plastic and eye surgery, abdominal pain, and dehydration
  • 12 hour shifts with every other Saturday off

  • ALOS – 24 to 48 hours

Short Stay Cardiac Unit

  • Specialize in pre and post organ transplant patients (heart, kidney, liver, pancreas, post lung), stepdown, and high acuity surgical patients
