Ochsner and Virgin HealthMiles have teamed up to engage employees to live an active and healthy lifestyle. This innovative program has the ability to track healthy behaviors through a pedometer, which counts employees' daily steps and uploads them electronically to an online health journal. Participants can then cash in their steps for rewards. Through a state-of-the-art kiosk Ochsner employees also have had the opportunity to measure and track their body fat, weight and blood pressure.
Ochsner created SmartMeals to encourage a healthier diet as part of its overall mission to promote healthy living by Ochsner employees. Exceeding the Dietary Guidelines established by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture, SmartMeals not only promote good nutritional habits by providing smarter food choices, but they also increase awareness of nutritional content in the foods served.
