Ochsner and Virgin HealthMiles have teamed up to engage employees to live an active and healthy lifestyle. This innovative program has the ability to track healthy behaviors through a pedometer, which counts employees' daily steps and uploads them electronically to an online health journal. Participants can then cash in their steps for rewards. Through a state-of-the-art kiosk, Ochsner employees also have had the opportunity to measure and track their body fat, weight and blood pressure.
Ochsner and Virgin HealthMiles have gained national attention. Click here to read how this program is setting the standard for preventative health programs in the workplace.
Virgin HealthMiles Program
Studies show that being active - getting hearts pumping and blood flowing - is a critical part of being healthy. While intentions are often in the right place, our bodies frequently are not: Employees take the escalator or elevator instead of the stairs. Employees drive when they could walk and choose a little more sleep over a little more exercise.
HealthMiles was created to be that extra motivation, that helpful nudge, to encourage choices that go a long way toward a healthier you. It works kind of like a frequent flier program, only employees are rewarded for getting active. Walk, run, pedal or just move, and earn "Miles" for doing it. Miles can then turn into great rewards!
Virgin HealthMiles in the Workplace
It all starts with employees getting active - doing whatever it is that gets them moving. Then, Virgin HealthMiles helps track activities and results through a secure, personalized website that can be accessed anywhere, anytime! When fitness levels and measurements improve, you get Miles for that too.
Earning HealthMiles is easy: using the "GoZone" digital pedometer, taking health measurements at a desktop kiosk, filling out a health snapshot, participating in challenges, and more. As employees progress through the Reward levels, they will earn HealthCash they can spend at over 50 national retail locations or pocket as good ole' hard cash!
