Dr. Ana Valente is a surgical oncologist with a focus in gynecologic oncology at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her expertise is in the surgical and medical management of cancers of the female genital tract including uterus, cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes, vulva and vagina. Dr. Valente graduated medical school from the University of Tennessee's College of Medicine and completed residency at the Ochsner Clinic, where she served as an administrative chief, won awards for her excellence in medical education and laparoscopic surgery and was named the 2018 Alton Ochsner Resident Leader of the Year. Dr. Valente went on to complete a three-year gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Oklahoma, where she had robust training in gynecologic cancer surgeries, minimally invasive robotic surgery and medical therapies for cancer including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies and clinical trials. During her time as a fellow, Dr. Valente completed a research thesis focusing on novel therapeutics in cervical cancer and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. Dr. Valente is thrilled to offer comprehensive, patient-centered gynecologic cancer care as well as complex robotic surgery to women with both benign and malignant conditions throughout the Gulf Coast. She also has a special interest in advocating for cancer prevention, screening and genetic testing for appropriate candidates to help women in our community live longer, healthier lives.
