Dr. Jose Posas received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 2009. He went on to complete his internship and residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He completed his fellowship in sports neurology at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. Dr. Posas is the Ochsner neurology residency program director. He is involved in the American Academy of Neurology as the chair of the innovation hub and part of various equity and education councils and committees.

Dr. Posas is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2014 and practicing medicine since 2014. In 2020, he became a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, which recognizes physicians for exemplary work and achievements in the neurosciences.

Dr. Posas performs concussion evaluations, nerve blocks under ultrasound guidance, Botox for migraine, and cryoneurolysis for occipital neuralgia among other subspecialty techniques. He has a special clinical interest in post-traumatic headaches and peak cognitive performance.

Dr. Posas enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, and grilling in his free time.
