Dr. Rajiv Gala received his medical degree from The University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham in 2000. He went on to complete his internship and residency at The University of Alabama Birmingham in obstetrics and gynecology. He was honored with the title of Administrative Chief Resident and completed his training in 2004. After completing his training, Dr. Gala joined the faculty at The University of Texas Southwestern Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and served as the Lead Gynecologist at Parkland Memorial Hospital prior to joining the staff at Ochsner. He has been very involved with the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and is a Past President of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS). Dr. Gala is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) Focused Practice Designation. He has been on staff at Ochsner since 2008. Dr. Gala is dedicated to resident education and, specifically, the use of simulation to improve clinical competence and patient safety. Dr. Gala provides care to all low- to moderate-risk obstetric patients as well as the full spectrum of gynecologic care, with a special interest in endometriosis and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. Gala enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with his family and friends in his free time.
