The Ochsner Alumni Society is an exclusive inner circle of the Ochsner Alumni Association that was organized in the Spring of 2002. The Society represents motivated individuals who by their contribution to the Ochsner institution, either by philanthropic donations or years of outstanding service, are part of this elite group.
Members include Outstanding Alumni, Honorary Alumni and Lifetime Dues Members.
Outstanding Alumni
In 1999, the Ochsner Alumni Association began presenting an Outstanding Alumnus Award to a former resident. Frank A. Riddick, Jr., M.D. presented the first award to Thomas E. Weiss, M.D. at the 1999 Homecoming Banquet. Appropriately, the award is called the “Thomas E. Weiss, M.D. Outstanding Alumnus Award.” Nominations are sent to all Fellow Alumni to suggest an individual who has exemplified an outstanding job as a physician, colleague and alumnus of Ochsner Clinic Foundation. Beginning in 1999, an option to be a Lifetime Dues Member became available to all Fellow Alumni of Ochsner.
