Senior Friendly Emergency Room Enhancements at Ochsner Baptist ER

Full-service emergency care is available at the Ochsner Baptist ER.

The Ochsner Baptist ER features Senior Friendly Enhancements to provide specialized care for our senior patients:

  • Trained geriatric clinicians
  • More comfortable amenities - 4" thick mattresses for better protection against skin breakdown.  Larger clocks and televisions have been placed in the rooms to assist the elderly eye.  A blanket warmer is added to the beds to help provide an extra level of thermal protection to keep our elderly patients warm.
  • Safety enhancements - New low skid flooring has been installed, which is also low glare to prevent falls from both sight issues and better traction. Hand rails have been installed in all the elderly friendly rooms and the hallway adjacent to those rooms.  Larger call bells for the nurse call system to make it easier for patients with poor dexterity to press the call button.
  • And more – Throughout the ER, the color scheme was changed to include rich, golden hues, which are more soothing to the elderly eye.
