Virgin Pulse: How It Works

Virgin Pulse members earn rewards for being active and healthy. We take a unique approach to activity by encouraging members to do what they enjoy most - walking, jogging, taking dance lessons, playing soccer with the kids - and we reward them for it.


Members earn ‘HealthMiles' (points) for becoming active, and get ‘HealthCash' as they reach key milestones which can be redeemed for gift cards to national retailers, cash, or it can be donated to a charity of their choice.

Members also set goals and track their progress; receive ongoing feedback, information, and motivation; participate in fun challenges and competitions; and, have opportunities for social engagement.

Proof of Performance

Virgin Pulse incorporates tools to track and validate activity and biometric data for your employees. This data measures real program results and how your overall wellness strategy is working for your organization.

Members track their daily activity with a variety of compatible activity tracking devices, including GoZone® pedometers. They also visit HealthZone® measurement stations to measure and track their key biometrics, including weight, blood pressure, body fat, and BMI.

The various activity and biometric tracking devices capture validated data that is uploaded to our data center and presented on each member's personal online program portal. Here, members measure their progress, redeem rewards, set up personal challenges with their friends and colleagues, and much more.

Real-Time Reporting

With Virgin Pulse, you have access to real-time, online reports, which help you track and maximize the value of the program to your organization. Leveraging the data captured by the program's activity and biometric tracking devices, in aggregate (for HIPAA compliance), you'll see:

  • participant profiles (who's using the program by age, gender, department)
  • participation data (how and how often members are using the program)
  • program results (health outcomes, including blood pressure, BMI, body fat, and lifestyle data)

The online reporting portal helps you see exactly how the Virgin Pulse program, and your overall strategy, is working in your organization at any given time, and the reporting data enables you to proactively adjust your strategies in order to maximize the impact of your wellness investments.

In addition to providing you with real-time reporting, we also take a long-term view when it comes to the program's impact. We measure shifts in both activity and biometric data, for the entire population as well as defined groups, throughout the program that will lead to cost savings.
