Dr. Tellis earned his medical degree from LSU and completed his internship, residency and fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He remained on staff at Walter Reed and was the Head of the Pulmonary Department there for 7 years. He retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service with the rank of Colonel. Dr. Tellis is board certified in internal and pulmonary medicine and has been on staff at Ochsner since 1989 as the Head of the Pulmonary Department.
