Dr. Bluth graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with special distinction in History. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New Yorks Downstate Medical Center, completed his internship at the Medical College of Virginia, and his residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and since 1977 has been on staff at Ochsner where he has served in a variety of administrative and clinical positions. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors of Ochsner. Dr. Bluth also is a Clinical Professor of Radiology at Tulane University School of Medicine. He is very active in his field and has held a variety of administrative positions in numerous medical societies including the American College of Radiology, the American Medical Society, the National Institutes of Health, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the New Orleans Radiology Society, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Southern Medical Association. He is a Past President of the New Orleans Radiology Society, the New Orleans Ultrasound Association, and Radiological Society of Louisiana and a fellow of the American College of Radiology and the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine. An active researcher, Dr. Bluth has published over 140 scientific articles and book chapters. He is the author of four textbooks and over 250 scientific papers, presentations and exhibits and serves on several editorial boards.
