Dr. Mott initially obtained a BS-Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas-Austin and worked as a clinical pharmacist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.  He attended Texas A&M University College of Medicine, graduating with honors and Alpha Omega Alpha in 1988, followed by residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Comprehensive Cancer Center, completing his training in 1994.  Dr. Mott joined a UW-affiliated group practice in Wausau, WI but in 1998, he returned to his home state of Texas, joining the Scott & White Clinic in Temple, Texas; affiliated with the Texas A&M University Health Science Center.
 
Dr. Mott joined the Ochsner Clinic and the Gayle & Tom Benson Cancer Center in November, 2010 as the Chairman of the Hematology-Oncology department at Ochsner Medical Center.  He is also Director of Thoracic Medical Oncology and is working with colleagues in Thoracic Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Pulmonary Medicine in a combined multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Clinic.
 
Dr. Mott's clinical focus is thoracic and head & neck malignancies with over 12 years directing a multidisciplinary lung cancer program at Scott & White.  He also has been involved in research as an NCI-sanctioned Principle Investigator and has been involved in medical education as a Medical Oncology Fellowship Program Director.
