Born in Giessan, Germany, Dr. Douglas graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and earned his medical degree from Washington University in St, Louis, Missouri, where he also earned his doctorate in Pharmacology. He completed his internship and residency at Ochsner, where he served as Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology from 1982 to 1999. Dr. Douglas is board certified in anesthesiology and has been on staff at Ochsner since 1979. Among his many professional commitments, Dr. Douglas sits on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Heart Association and serves as the Chairman of that organizations Emergency Cardiac Care Committee.'
