A native of New Orleans, Jennifer Barrett Scheuermann earned her Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. She then completed her medical training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where she earned her Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She practiced Gastroenterology with a focus on Chronic Hepatitis C from 2001 through early 2008, at which point she joined the Hepatology department at Ochsner. She practiced General Hepatology, including treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C, from 2008 until 2011, at which point she began to focus solely on the treatment of Hepatitis C. She helped develop the Ochsner HCV Treatment Clinic and is one of two Physician Assistants who currently staff the clinic. She has helped to educate numerous health professionals in the Gulf South region on the treatment of Hepatitis C.
In addition, Jennifer is a member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Louisiana Academy of Physician Assistants. She previously served as Vice President of the Louisiana Academy of Physician Assistants.
