Dr. Bernal earned his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota, Colombia, and completed his internship at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Bogota. He completed his residency at Charity Hospital and Tulane and a fellowship in cardiology at Ochsner and Charity. Dr. Bernal is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Echocardiography. Dr. Bernal has been on staff at Ochsner since 1992 and is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and echocardiography.
