Dr. Bazzett-Matabele earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, where she also completed her internship and residency. She completed her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. She then joined the staff of the Ochsner Clinic in 2000. Dr. Bazzett-Matabele is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has received numerous awards and honors for clinical and academic excellence and achievements in medical research, and has written articles for various scientific publications. Her professional expertise is in the treatment of women with malignancies of the female reproductive organs including cancers of the ovary, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva. Her special interests include hereditary gynecologic cancers, focusing on prevention and early detection and treatment of these diseases.
Dr. Bazzett-Matabele was listed as one of the top doctors in the August 2009 editiion of the New Orleans Magazine.
