Dr. Matthew Cortez joins Ochsner Medical Center after completing a fellowship in Neonatology at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, TN. He completed his pediatric residency at Tulane University and Ochsner Foundation in 1998. He was in private pediatric practice general pediatrics in Birmingham, AL prior to starting his fellowship at Vanderbilt. During his fellowship, he was appointed the chief neonatal fellow in his third year of training. His research interests include end of life issues, neonatal pain, ECMO, and surgical problems of the neonate.
