Dr. Michael Bates earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He completed both a surgery internship and his residency at Ochsner Medical Center . He then completed fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Ochsner Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Heart Failure & Heart Transplant at Stanford University Medical Center in California. Dr. Bates is certified by the American Board of Surgery and has been on staff since July 2008.
