Paula Katie Toups was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA graduating from Baton Rouge Magnet High School. For college she was awarded a scholarship to compete for the University of Kentucky gymnastics team. There she earned of Bachelor of Science in Biology. After graduating with top honors she went on to earn her Master's degree in Physician Studies from the University of Kentucky. She is nationally certified through the NCCPA. Upon graduating and obtaining her certificiation she returned to Baton Rouge where she has worked in Orthopedics for four years prior to joining Ochsner.
