Dr. Ramon E. Rivera is the Medical Director of Outpatient and Hospital Endoscopy for the Center for Digestive Disorders at The Ochsner Clinic Foundation, where he also serves as a staff gastroenterologist.
After earning his medical degree in 1998 from the Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Rivera pursued postdoctoral training in the United States and completed his internship and residency at the Graduate Hospital of Philadelphiaÿs Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr Rivera went on to serve as Chief Medical Resident before completing a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the same institution. His advanced therapeutic endoscopy training in Pancreas and Biliary disorders was completed at The Ochsner Clinic.
A collaborator on numerous published research projects, Dr. Rivera is active in professional societies, including ASGE and ACG. Dr. Rivera is double board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Gastroenterology.
Dr Rivera has special interest and expertise in Advanced therapeutic endoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP, Endoscopic mucosal resection/ablation, pancreas and biliary diseases.
