Thelma Cook earned her Family Nurse Practitioner from Northwestern State University in 1998, where she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau. She has been Coordinator of the Diabetes Self-Care Training Program at Ochsner since March 2004. Her area of expertise is in intensive insulin therapy and insulin pump therapy. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Certified Pump Trainer for most insulin pumps. She is s member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Diabetes Educators, American Diabetes Association, American Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
