Dr. Payne graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine located in Oklahoma City, and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been on staff at Ochsner Health System since 1996. In addition, he is certified in the field of robotically assisted laparoscopic surgery and serves as a national proctor and lecturer in this field. Dr. Payne’s special interests in gynecology involve research, teaching, and advancing all types of minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and robotically assisted laparoscopic surgery. His special interests in obstetrics involved both traditional and progressive childbirth plans. This includes a collaborative midwifery practice and water births. Dr. Payne is a member of the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Dr. Payne serves on faculty at Ochsner Health Center from 1996 to Present, Louisiana State University Department of OB/Gyn to Present and Baton Rouge Department of Family Medicine Residency Program 2000 to 2007.
