Dr. Veronica Gillispie is a Board Certified Obstetrician & Gynecologist who earned her medical degree from Mehrarry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee in 2004. She completed her residency training at Ochsner Health System in 2008. During her training, Dr. Gillispie served as Administrative Chief Resident. She also received many accolades during her matriculation including Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures and the 2008 Alton Ochsner Resident Leader of the Year. Dr. Gillispie has served as the Louisiana Section Junior Fellow Vice-Chair and Chair for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She has also served as a member of the Committee on Healthcare for Underserved Women for ACOG. She currently serves as the obstetrician for the National Advisory Council on Maternal, Infant and Fetal Nutrition.
Dr. Gillispie provides care to low, moderate, and high risk obstetric patients, as well as gynecology patients of all ages, especially adolescents. Dr. Gillispie has a special interest in treatment options for uterine fibroids and serves as the Medical Director for the Center for the Minimally Invasive Treatment of Uterine Fibroids. Surgically, she is skilled in robotic and advanced laparoscopic procedures including myomectomies, hysterectomies, adnexal surgery, hysteroscopic procedures and office surgical procedures.
Dr. Gillispie is both very dedicated and passionate about education. She serves as the Associate Program Director for the OBGYN Residency Program and is the Program Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology for the Ochsner Clinical School/University of Queensland, Australia. She was recently nominated for the Spirit of Leadership Award for Academic Contribution.
