Dr. Parmar earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He went on to continue his Orthopaedic training at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. He followed this up with an Orthopaedic Trauma fellowship at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento California. He completed a fellowship in Degenerative Spine Surgery at the Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California, and then a fellowship in Degenerative Spine and Spine Trauma at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. He has performed over 750 spine procedures and is well versed in non-operative and operative treatments for spinal pathologies. His area of expertise includes spinal reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery, spine trauma, and evaluation and treatment of patients with multiple failed previous surgeries. He has completed post-graduate courses in kyphoplasty, minimally invasive spine surgery and artificial disc replacement. He has published articles studying pathology and treatment of axial low back pain. Dr. Parmar is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2007.
