Warren R. Bourgeois, III, MD has been in private practice of orthopedic surgery, with an emphasis on sports medicine and adult spinal disorders since 1991. Dr. Bourgeois was born and raised in New Orleans and graduated from Jesuit High School in 1974. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tulane University in 1978. He then received his medical degree in 1982 from Tulane University School of Medicine, and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency from Tulane and Charity Hospital in 1987. During his residency, he spent time in training with Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Michael Brunet and Dr. Thomas Whitecloud. He has completed many training courses in the area of sports injuries of athletes, joint replacement techniques, and treatment of adult spinal conditions, including complex surgery of the spine.
Following completion of his residency, Dr. Bourgeois served his country for the next 4 years as a staff orthopedic surgeon at US Airforce Medical Center Keesler in Biloxi, MS. He was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm during that time. While enjoying a family life with his wife and two children, as well as occasional local hunting and fishing, Dr. Bourgeois donates a considerable amount of time in covering local athletic events. One of his many volunteer activities includes being the team physician for Jesuit High School, which he has done since 1991. He is also active with the New Orleans Medical Mission Services through which he has done volunteer work/surgery in Ecuador and Nicaragua. Warren R. Bourgeois, III, MD has been with Orthopedic Surgery Associates, now Audubon Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, since 1991.
Dr. Bourgeois has brought many new procedures to the practice over the years including arthroscopic ACL reconstruction, arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repair, minimally invasive total hip and total knee replacement as well as computer navigated surgery. He also performs the Oxford partial knee replacement and kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures.
