Your Appointment
Routine appointments are made by calling Ochsner Cardiology at 985-543-3664. Office hours are from 8:00 am -5:00 PM. Monday through Friday. Please arrive 15-20 mins early so that you can be checked in properly for your appointment.
Insurances Accepted
Accepted insurances include: most commercial insurances and Medicare, certain private Medicaid providers. Please check with your individual insurance provider coverage so you will be aware of your individual benefits/coverage.
Referrals
The registration receptionist will need your most current insurance information in order to get authorization for your appointment and testing. If it is not correct,we may need to change your appointment or tests until it is corrected. Any insurance requiring a referral from the primary care physician (PCP) to schedule a clinic visit is the responsibility of the individual patient to request it from their PCP.
Prescription Refills
Prescription refills are requested through your pharmacy. They in turn will contact our office for you. Refill requests/authorizations from Ochsner Cardiology require at least 3 working days to approval. Please submit this request at 3 days prior to running out of medications. Ochsner Cardiology will only refill your cardiac medications.Other medications will be referred to your PCP for refill authorization.
Calling Your Doctor
Sometimes your physician or the nurse is unable to take your call because they are treating other patients. In these cases, the receptionist will take a message and send it to the nurse. Depending on the nature of the call, the physician or nurse, will return your message as soon as possible, usually within a few hours. Phone calls are returned during the course of the day. Some of Ochsner‘s physicians do not hold clinic hours every day. It is helpful for you to learn the days your physician is in. Please call for routine questions, forms, results and refills on days when your physician is in clinic so they may be addressed personally. Non-urgent requests may be deferred until your physician is available.
Lab/Test Results
Most of our patients are scheduled to return to our office to review test results with the physician. If your test results are abnormal, usually 3-7 working days or sooner you will receive a call from our office. If we are unable to reach you,we will send you notification in the mail. "Normal" results will be discussed as arranged by your physician.
