Promising Practices by Local Leaders
Schools can provide a healthy environment for students, teachers and families to learn and experience the benefits of healthy physical activity, good nutrition and improved wellness. Through a generous grant from The Humana Foundation, Ochsner surveyed 85 schools in the Jefferson Parish Public School System and identified promising practices (methods, techniques and activities) to improve the health and wellness of students, teachers, faculty/staff and families.
This site serves to highlight local leaders in schools (teachers, nurses, food service staff, etc.) that have introduced and encouraged activities, techniques and methods to promote healthier behaviors. As we learn and strive towards better health we encourage you to:
- Connect with the local leaders featured here
- Consider trying one of the highlighted promising practices
