When you need to transport a critically ill or injured patient to any one of our Ochsner Health facilities, you can rely on our expert team to provide safe and rapid emergency transport for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients, via helicopter or ambulance. When you entrust the health and safety of your patients to our transport team, you can feel confident knowing that we implement physician orders during all transports, including those for specialty ventilator, isolette and balloon pump patients. As well, our dedicated Flight Care team includes flight paramedics, respiratory therapists and highly skilled, specially certified RNs. We also ensure our physicians and specialty staff are available to accompany your patient, if needed.

We have designed our transfer process to provide an easy, streamlined experience for our referring physicians. When you call our Ochsner Patient Flow Center, an Ochsner registered nurse will conduct a recorded three-way call between the referring physician and the Ochsner-accepting physician to ensure the transfer's acceptance. Once we confirm acceptance, the Ochsner RN will manage all aspects of the transfer including completing the registration process and bed request. We will work closely with your team to organize the transportation arrangements to ensure continuity of care and the safest, most efficient hand off.
