Unique Certification Includes USA Triathlon Performance Center Designation
NEW ORLEANS, LA The summer months mark the peak training season for triathlons and now local tri-athletes have a certified USA Triathlon (USAT) Training Center at Elmwood Fitness Center. Elmwood, a service of Ochsner, is just one of five centers in the country with this unique certification which also includes a designation as a USA Triathlon Performance Center.
"The number of athletes participating in triathlons across the nation continues to climb and we are excited to be part of this trend, says Ben Elder, USA Triathlon Certified Coach and Manager of Team Rising Sun at Elmwood Fitness Center. In 2007, over 100,000 athletes will perform in triathlons nationwide. In the Gulf Coast region, approximately 45,000 athletes are expected to participate in triathlons.
As a USAT Certified Training Center, Elmwood Fitness Center will continue to offer Vo2 Max and Lactate testing, Video Analysis, personal triathlon coaching, and non-coached training programs as well as of the other great services and amenities to the multi-sport community.
Being certified as a Training & Performance Center, Elmwood will be able to start offering the following services to develop this multi-sport lifestyle within the greater New Orleans area, explains Elder:

Elmwood has its own Triathlete Team, called Team Rising Sun, which currently has 80 members and are as diverse as the sports world itself with members ranging in age from 19 and 65. Elmwood Fitness Center provides multi-sport athletes a competitive edge with coaching and testing services. Additionally, all team members have access to an online training log that they can track their training, nutrition, and coaching staff can access to further assist in their training schedule. Nutrition consultations are available for an additional fee. Members participate in adventure races, open water swimming events, triathlons, duathlons, marathons, cycling rides and races.
