Flu Vaccination Information
Flu Vaccine now available! The best way to protect you and your family from infection is to get the flu vaccine every year.
This year's flu vaccine is being made in the same way as past flu vaccines. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expects H1N1 and other seasonal viruses to spread this season. This year the vaccine will protect against the H1N1 and seasonal influenza viruses.
Ochsner's scheduled flu fairs are open to the public. Participants are encouraged to have their insurance card or Medicare card with them. Please call the phone numbers listed below for questions or appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

Q: Who should receive the vaccine?
A: The CDC recommends everyone 6 months of age and older be vaccinated against influenza.
Q: What is the most common reaction after receiving the vaccine?
A: Mild soreness at the injection site.
Q: What is the "High Dose Flu Vaccine"?
A: The high dose flu vaccine is for people age 65 years or older. According to the CDC older persons are at greater risk for complications from the flu and may benefit from a stronger vaccine.
Q: Is the standard flu vaccine able to fight the flu for people 65 years and older?
A: Yes. Those over the age of 65 should take whatever flu vaccine is available.
