Free Holiday Diabetic Cooking Demo and Luncheon

KENNER, LA Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner (OMC-K) is hosting a golden opportunity for local residents 55 years and over A free luncheon and diabetes cooking demonstration on December 6, at 11:00am at the hospital located at 180 West Esplanade Avenue. The holidays can be a tough time for families, especially those who are dealing with dietary restrictions as a result of diabetes. But, there's no reason you can't enjoy the holidays and all they have to offer. With a little preparation and some diabetes know-how, you'll be ready to face any holiday gathering head-on. The most important thing about managing diabetes during the holiday season is to plan ahead. Learn how to lower the fat, sugar, and carbohydrate counts in your favorite foods while still keeping the taste and texture you enjoy. To register for this event, call 842-7000. This luncheon is presented by Ochsners GO Program, a lifestyle club for men and women over 55 years of age focused on staying healthy, fit and active. The GO Program is an added benefit of Ochsners ownership of the Ochsner Medical Center Kenner and provides additional opportunities to learn how to keep your health and social life on track. GO members dont have to change physicians in order to participate in the activities, explains Angela Foster, Coordinator of the GO Program. This is a club that allows members to receive health screenings, attend seminars, join social gatherings, and participate in travel opportunities, including trips abroad. Foster goes on to say that if members choose to join one of our three locations of Elmwood Fitness Center, they received a discounted membership.
