Event Benefits Benson Cancer Center; Features Alan Thicke as Auctioneer

NEW ORLEANS –   Ochsner is taking its Perfect Pink Party to the turf –the Superdome turf, that is.  In our largest fundraising event of the year, Ochsner will feature a private concert by multiplatinum, award-winning singer Robin Thicke (“Lost Without U”, “Magic”, “The Sweetest Love”) on the turf of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to benefit The Gayle & Tom Benson Cancer Center at Ochsner where breast cancer patients receive their treatment.

The event, which takes place on Friday October 5th, includes a cocktail reception, seated dinner and a live auction featuring Alan Thicke (“Growing Pains”) before the after-dinner concert by the younger Thicke. Earlier that day, Robin and Alan will tour the Benson Cancer Center and visit patients receiving chemotherapy.

By the age of 21, Thicke had written and produced songs on over 20 gold and platinum albums for artists including Michael Jackson, Marc Anthony, Pink, Christina Aguilera and others. After his breakthrough second release, 2006’s The Evolution Of Robin Thicke, and topping four Billboard charts simultaneously, Thicke had established himself as one of the most respected singer-songwriters in soul and R&B music today.  He received the VH1 Soul/Vibe award for “Best Breakthrough Artist” in 2007 and “Lost Without U” was named ASCAP’s Song of the Year the same year. He has been nominated for numerous awards by BET, Soul Train, MTV Video Music Awards and the American Music Awards.

Thicke released his fifth studio album in 2011 and recently wrapped the first season of ABC’s debut reality singing series, “Duets,” alongside Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Jennifer Nettles. Next up is Thicke’s film debut in the independent film “Abby in the Summer.”

Tickets to Ochsner’s “Perfect Pink Party on the Turf” begin at $300, which includes the cocktail party, seated dinner, live auction and private Robin Thicke concert.  Funds raised benefit cancer services at Ochsner.
