Ochsner Blood Bank Partners with Gretna Career College
NEW ORLEANS, LA Tomorrow,
Friday, May 11, from
11:00am3:00pm, the Ochsner Blood Bank will sponsor a blood drive at the Gretna Career College, 1415 Whitney Ave., Gretna, to help supply shortages experienced during the summer months.
As the communities around the New Orleans area continue to grow, so does the need for blood. Hospitals use blood and blood components every day and need the support of their surrounding communities to help meet patients blood needs. The only way to maintain a safe and adequate blood supply is through community support and volunteer donations.
To donate blood, you must meet the following criteria:
- At least 17 years old
- Weigh at least 110 pounds
- In good general health
- Persons on high blood pressure or cholesterol medications and those with controlled diabetes ARE eligible.
- Individuals that recently received the Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus or flu vaccinations ARE eligible.
Ochsner Blood Banks mission is to provide an adequate and safe blood supply for the hospitals and communities Ochsner serves. Ochsner has a proven track record of providing uninterrupted blood resource services to all medical facilities it serves.
