NEW ORLEANS– On Thursday, January 22, 2009, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm, at Ursuline Academy, 2635 State Street, New Orleans, LA 70118, Ochsner and the Ursuline Parents Club invite parents, students and the community to participate in a FREE Ochsner Blood Drive and Health Fair. Blood drive participants will receive free cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, and for all male donors, PSA screenings.
In addition to the Health Fair, two guest speakers will attend:
• 6:00 pm: Shannon Lovell, Social Worker from Ochsner Psychiatry will speak on self-esteem in young females.
• 6:30 pm: Dr. Nicole Charbonnet, Ochsner OBGYN, will speak on the importance of women’s health screenings and the latest findings concerning the vaccine Gardasil.
Staff from Elmwood Fitness Center, Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway and Ochsner Baptist Medical Center Uptown will also attend to provide information to parents and students on breast self-exams, exercise and nutrition, and new medical services in the Uptown/Broadmoor community.
