Uptown Campus Continues To Grow Medical Services in Orleans Parish
NEW ORLEANS - Staying on track is the motto at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center (OBMC). Today, the facility is holding true to its promise by offering new OB/GYN services and will soon open a Laser Vision Center at the Uptown campus. On May 5, 2008, Drs. Elizabeth Lapeyre, Jerry St. Pierre, William Sargent and Margaret Roberie will begin seeing patients at the Baptist campus in Suite 400 of the Women's Pavilion. In addition, the Laser Vision Center, under the direction of Dr. Pulin Shah, will begin patient consultations in May 2008 and actual procedures in June 2008. Optometry services will be provided by Tiffany Brown, O.D.
"We're proud to continue to expand our services at Baptist. It signifies that the campus is coming back to life. We are a full-service hospital with 25 beds, an Intensive Care Unit, five operating rooms, two cardiac catherization suites and two endoscopy suites," says Robert Wolterman, Vice President of Operations for Ochsner Baptist.
In March 2008, a Urology Clinic located on the 6th floor of the Women's Pavilion opened with Drs. Satish Karnik, Melissa Montgomery and Harold Fuselier.
The OBMC Imaging Center opened in November 2007 and includes state-of-the-art equipment, 64-slice CT machine, MRI, Ultrasound, Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine and Echo Cardiology testing. In addition, a Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) enable physicians to view patient images in their offices and throughout the hospital, including inside operating rooms.
Wolterman goes on to say "throughout 2008 we will continue to add inpatient beds and additional services as the need dictates and volume continues to increase."
OBMC is capable of handling virtually all medical and surgical cases with the exception of trauma, open-heart surgery and neurological cases. Ochsner Baptist has over 300 community physicians with privileges at the facility.
