Uptown Campus Continues Growing Medical Services in Orleans Parish

NEW ORLEANS - Staying on track is the motto at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center (OBMC).  Next week the facility will offer Allergy Clinic services at the Uptown campus.  On Monday, August 11, Drs. W. Edward Davis, Manuel Lopez, Cathryn Hassett, Maxcie Sikora and Larry Montelibano will begin seeing patients at the new Clinic at 4429 Clara Street, Suite 440, New Orleans, LA  70115.  The Allergy Clinic will offer patients comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and management of allergy-related diseases and disorders of the immune system.

"We're excited to continue expanding services at Baptist.  We're now a full-service hospital with 25 beds, an Intensive Care Unit, six operating rooms, a state-of-the-art Imaging Center, two cardiac catheterization suites and two endoscopy suites," says Robert Wolterman, Chief Executive Officer at Ochsner Baptist.

Over 40 million Americans suffer the debilitating effects of allergies, particularly here in Southeast Louisiana with the high pollen counts," explains Dr. Davis.  "And, our Allergy staff provides daily readings from our Burkard Air Sampler Machine which is located at our Main Campus. These daily pollen and mold counts are available at www.ochsner.org
There is also a Burkard Machine at Baptist but readings are not measured daily.

The facility has shown marked growth over the past year. In March 2008, a Urology Clinic located on the 6th floor of the Women's Pavilion opened with Drs. Satish Karnik, Melissa Montgomery and Harold Fuselier.

The OBMC Imaging Center opened in November 2007 and includes state-of-the-art equipment, 64-slice CT machine, MRI, Ultrasound, Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine and Echo Cardiology testing.  In addition, a Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) enables physicians to view patient images in their offices and throughout the hospital, including inside operating rooms.

Wolterman goes on to say "throughout the remainder of this year we'll continue to add in-patient beds and additional services as the need dictates and volume continues to increase."

OBMC is capable of handling virtually all medical and surgical cases with the exception of trauma, open-heart surgery and neurological cases.  Ochsner Baptist has over 300 community physicians with privileges at the facility.
