NEW ORLEANS – Patrick Quinlan, M.D., CEO of Ochsner Health System, has been named a top “100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems” by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Physician leaders were selected based on their healthcare experience, awards they've received and their commitment to quality care. Dr. Quinlan is the only recipient in the Gulf Coast Region.

“It is honor to represent Ochsner Health System as a nationally recognized and respected health care leader,” said Patrick Quinlan, M.D., CEO, Ochsner Health System. “My work with the great people of Ochsner has been a rare privilege. As an integrated system, we have achieved great success in medical outcomes and growing partnerships regionally and globally.”

Successful hospitals require bright leadership and clinical excellence, and physician executives provide the valuable skill sets to meet both of these needs.

Regardless of the executive role, the selected physicians use their clinical experience to inform their decisions as they lead their hospitals and health systems to high quality, cost-effective care. Many of the leaders were nominated by their peers, and the list was vetted by industry experts. Hospitals do not and cannot pay to be included on this list.

These accolades are the latest in a string of awards in 2012 for Ochsner Health System. For the third year in a row, Ochsner Medical Center was named a Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals® National Benchmark Study winner and Top 15 Major Teaching Hospitals in the nation. Additionally, we were a recipient of the Everest Award, and Ochsner Medical Center and Ochsner Medical Center- West Bank Campus were recognized as Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence™ by HealthGrades.
