Free Screenings, Physician Lectures and a Healthy Lunch Offered to Local Seniors
HARVEY, LA - A Golden Opportunity for West Bank Seniors on Wednesday, May 27, as Ochsner Medical Center - West Bank's Golden Opportunity club and Manhattan Athletic Club team together to host "Senior Day," a FREE event for adults ages 50 and older. The festivities will take place from 9am-2pm, at the Manhattan Athletic Club, 4162 Manhattan Boulevard.
"Senior Day is a great opportunity for adults over 50 to take advantage of free health screenings and tips from fitness experts on age appropriate exercises," explains Dr. Yvens Laborde, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Ochsner Medical Center - West Bank. "Regular health screenings like blood pressure and cholesterol checks, when paired with healthy eating and exercise, can significantly reduce improve quality of life and longevity."
Several local Ochsner physicians will present 30-minute lectures on medical issues most common in seniors. The discussions will include:
- Carpel Tunnel Syndrome: Dr. Kearney Robert, Orthopedist
- Breast Health: Dr. John Kennedy, Ochsner Oncologist
- Osteoporosis: Dr. Amanda Fontenot, Ochsner Internist
