2012 Tree Dedicated to Memory of Two Ochsner Employees
NEW ORLEANS – Each year, Ochsner Health System begins the holiday season by celebrating life. Members of the community are invited to participate in our annual Tree of Life ceremony by purchasing an ornament bearing the name of the special person they would like to honor or memorialize. During the ceremony, each ornament will be individually announced and hung on the holiday tree.
This year’s Tree of Life is dedicated to the memory of two Ochsner employees. Gay Grabert and Tracy Sbisa were respected and loved by the Ochsner family. Gay, who worked at Ochsner for more than 31 years and whose can-do attitude touched many lives, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in June. Tracy, who was instrumental in organizing local fundraising activities to support finding a cure, lost her fight with colon cancer in April.
Gay and Tracy will be honored at the dedication of the 2012 Tree of Life. The dedication will be held on Friday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinic Atrium at Ochsner Medical Center, 1514 Jefferson Highway.
Proceeds from this year’s Tree of Life event will benefit Ochsner’s Colon and Rectal Cancer Fund and Upper GI / Liver and Pancreatic Cancer Fund. By purchasing a Tree of Life ornament or making a general donation to the Tree of Life ceremony, you are supporting both colon and pancreatic cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, research and education at Ochsner and in the communities we serve.
