Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge Raises the Donate Life Flag

April is Organ Donation Awareness Month

Baton Rouge, LA – In recognition of April being Organ Donation Awareness Month, Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge conducted a Donate Life flag raising ceremony.   Throughout the month of April Ochsner will host organ donation awareness activities at locations throughout southeast Louisiana. 

Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge staff raised the Donate Life flag in recognition of April as Organ Donation Awareness Month.  Those present at the flag raising ceremony were Dawn Pevey Mauk, Ochsner Baton Rouge Chief Nursing Officer; Tiffany Snedigar, LOPA Hospital Resource Coordinator; Tom Ashworth, liver recipient and Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge volunteer and Ruth Kirby, Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge Clinical Educator and donor team lead.

More than 113,000 men, women and children are on the national transplant waiting list with another person added every 12 minutes.  In Louisiana more than 1,800 people are waiting for organ transplants.  One organ donor can save the lives of nine recipients.
