Local health system also recognized as one of “100 Accountable Care Organizations to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review
NEW ORLEANS – National Research Corporation (NRC) announced that New Orleans residents have named Ochsner Medical Center the Consumer Choice Award winner for the 18th consecutive year – a feat accomplished by only 37 other hospitals. The Consumer Choice Award identifies 277 hospitals that healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image throughout the United States.
New Orleans-area consumers chose Ochsner Medical Center based on four metrics:
- Best overall quality
- Best image and reputation
- Best doctors
- Best nurses
“We are thrilled to offer this annual award because we understand how important the role of reputation plays in healthcare consumer decision-making,” said Susan L. Henricks, President and Chief OperatingOfficer at National Research. “These winners have done an outstanding job of representing their organizations in terms of high quality care, improvement initiatives, and positive consumer perceptions and experiences. The consumers have spoken. And we congratulate the winning hospitals in receiving this honor.”
Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company’s Market Insights Survey. This study surveys over 270,000 households in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia. From the households surveyed, hospitals named by consumers are analyzed and ranked based on their Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs) as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, with the winning facilities being ranked the highest.
Ochsner Accountable Care Network Named one of “100 Accountable Care Organizations to Know”
Becker's Hospital Review has recognized the Ochsner Accountable Care Network as one of “100 Accountable Care Organizations to Know.” Ochsner is the only hospital in Louisiana to receive this award.
“The Consumer Choice award and Becker’s recognition represent the dedication and hard work of our employees and medical staff,” said Robert Wolterman, CEO, Ochsner Medical Center. “It affirms our commitment and devotion to the highest quality care for our patients and the trust our community has in Ochsner.”
The list recognizes hospitals, health systems and physician groups that have made great strides to coordinate care and lower costs by becoming Medicare and/or commercial ACOs.
The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected ACOs for inclusion based on the number of physicians involved and lives covered, as well as lifespan of the ACO, whether it has risk-based arrangements with multiple payers and whether it recently struck new agreements with payers.
