HARVEY, LA - Ochsner Medical Center - West Bank Campus recently received the Gold Level 2008 Louisiana Health Care Review (LHCR) Hospital Quality Award at the 2nd Annual Louisiana Health Care Quality Summit on May 18, 2009, in Baton Rouge.
LHCR initiated the Hospital Quality Award in 2005, recognizing those hospitals achieving significant improvement in care over the preceding year, specifically for those patients who required admission for Acute Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Community-Acquired Pneumonia, and Surgical Care.
In 2006 LHCR implemented four levels for this award: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. As the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Louisiana, LHCR is pleased to continue this important work with its hospital partners.
"Receiving this award shows our commitment to improve health care for West Bank residents," said Dr. Mike O'Bryan, CEO, Ochsner Medical Center - West Bank Campus. "And, we want to congratulate the efforts of our physicians, nurses and other staff for their hard work to improve patient care."
The purpose of this award is to recognize short-term acute care and critical access hospitals of all sizes, in both urban and rural areas, for their efforts and achievements in improving the quality of inpatient care. The Ochsner Medical Center - West Bank Campus is one of 26 hospitals to receive the Gold Level Award indicating achievement of significant clinical quality improvement in all but one of the clinical topics applicable for their inpatient population.
