NEW ORLEANS - For the eighth time, Ochsner Health System has been singled out from over 5,000 U.S. hospitals for its exceptional medical care. Ochsner is the only New Orleans hospital recognized as one of "America's Best Hospitals" by U.S. News and World Report. In the July 23 issue, Ochsner is listed as one of the nation's 50 best in the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Category.
This is the 18th annual report by U.S. News, which publishes a rigorous assessment of 5,462 hospitals in the U.S., of which only 173 make the cut.

Ochsner's Ear, Nose & Throat Department was ranked within the top 50 hospitals for the second time in ENT care and is known for diagnostic services and treatment, including surgery. Ochsner's ENT Department includes specialists in Neurology, Otology, Rhinology, Facial Plastics, Head & Neck Cancer, and Pediatrics collaborating to provide patients with comprehensive care.

Ranking for "America's Best Hospitals" is based on components related to quality of care: reputation, mortality, and various factors such as procedure volume and nursing care. Hospitals are ranked by specialty. These medical centers are chosen based on the fact that they are accustomed to seeing the toughest patient cases and conducting bench-to-bedside research that advances the state of the art.
