WHAT: One in 6 U.S. men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Excluding skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in the U.S. and the second most common cause of cancer death among men. But prostate cancer is most treatable when caught early. It is highly recommended that men aged 40 and older talk with their doctor about prostate cancer testing.
In support of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Ochsner Urology is hosting free PSA screenings as a public service at multiple locations during the month of September.
A PSA screening is a simple blood test and could save your life. It is used primarily to screen for prostate cancer before symptoms appear. A PSA test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. To find out how to get screened, visit ochsner.org/getscreened. To schedule an appointment with an Ochsner Urologist call 504-842-4084.
