Health System Welcomes St. Charles Ave. Clinic & After-Hours Urgent Care Center

NEW ORLEANS, LA - On Wednesday, February 20, 2008, from 4:00 pm - 7:00pm, Ochsner Health System will host an Open House to mark the opening of a new community health center in the heart of Uptown New Orleans at 3423 St. Charles Avenue.

The Ochsner Uptown Health Center offers medical services including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Radiology and Lab Services, and is staffed by Uptown residents Dr. Richard McQueen and Dr. Lora Langefels. 

  • Ochsner medical services are available Monday through Friday 7:00am to 4:30pm. 
  • Overnight urgent care is staffed by Gulf Coast Urgent Care Monday thru Friday from 3:00pm to 11:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9:00am - 6:00pm

"Ochsner is continuing to reinvest in the community and bring more medical services to Orleans Parish by opening the Uptown Health Center," says Warner Thomas, Chief Operating Officer and President of Ochsner Health System. "We want our neighbors and visitors who come to New Orleans to know that we're here to provide healthcare services and are conveniently located off the St. Charles Avenue streetcar route."   

Dr. Langefels explains "We're excited about our Uptown location and hope to be a resource for local residents, visitors and tourists as we're located close to many of the city's historic sites."

Dr. Richard McQueen earned his medical degree from Tulane University, while he completed his internship and residency at Emory University. Dr. McQueen's specialty is internal medicine and other areas of expertise including hypertension, diabetes and preventive medicine.

Dr. Langefels earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. She completed her Family Medicine internship at Tulane and her residency at LSU.
